12 Signs Your Uterine Lining May Be Too Thin to Conceive

Whether you’re trying to get pregnant naturally or with the help of IUI or IVF, a healthy, plentiful uterine lining with good circulation is necessary for successful implantation. This same uterine lining is also crucial for staying pregnant — which of course, is your ultimate goal when trying to grow your family.

The question is: Is your uterine lining too thin for you to be able to conceive? And how do you know?

Some women know their lining is too thin based on the results of ultrasounds done by their doctor or health care provider during their fertility treatments.

But if you’re trying to conceive naturally and you haven’t had an ultrasound yet, there’s almost no way to know that your lining is too thin…at least not in Western medicine.

However, in Chinese medicine, there are signs you can watch for that may point to a condition known as blood deficiency. This condition leads to a thin uterine lining which makes it difficult for you to get pregnant, stay pregnant, and deliver a healthy baby.

Here are 12 signs that may point to a need to increase your uterine lining:

Sign #1 & Sign #2: You have a very light or an extremely short period.

When you have your period, you’re only getting one or maybe two days of flow and that flow is very light. You’re likely only needing a panty liner or a light tampon, and you’re probably not really needing to change it out because it’s barely filling up.

Sign #3: Your period flow doesn’t have a thick consistency or is really watered down.

If the flow of your period is really watery and it’s not that thick, that could be another sign that your uterine lining is thin. This means to even flush out the lining each cycle, your body’s needing to use other fluids because there’s not a substantial amount of blood there to its job.

Sign #4: Your period flow is a pale color.

If the color of your flow is a pink pale color that would also be a sign that you’re not having a substantial thickness of your uterine lining. A good triple layer lining with the right circulation going to it will produce darker, red-colored flows.

Sign #5: You are ovulating late in your cycle.

You should be ovulating around day 14 in your cycle. And if you’re ovulating day 21 or later in your cycle, this could be a sign of what we would call a blood deficiency in Chinese medicine because there’s just not enough blood flow there to actually support your egg maturing on time and ovulating on time.

Other signs of blood deficiency have less to do with your cycle and more to do with your overall health. Here are some overall health-related signs to be aware of:

Signs #6: You have dry skin, dry hair, or dry eyes.

For example, if you have dry skin or dry hair or dry eyes, this could be a sign of a blood deficiency and a thin uterine lining. This is because your body’s not producing enough substantial, nutrient-rich blood to nourish your skin, your hair, and your eyes.

Sign #7: You have poor memory.

Sign #8: You experience difficulty focusing.

Sign #9: You get regular, unexplained headaches.

Sign #10: You are tired or have trouble sleeping.

Sign #11: You struggle with anxiety.

Any combination of these signs may also indicate that you’re lacking a substantial amount of blood and that your body’s not producing enough healthy, nutrient-rich blood cells.

Sign #12: You have anemia or an iron deficiency.

All (or some) of these signs may be indicated by anemia. However, you may not be anemic or iron deficient. Your iron levels may look fine on a blood test ordered by your doctor, but blood deficiency is viewed differently in Chinese medicine. It’s not something that can be necessarily measured by a test.

However, if you are iron deficient, that would be another sign that you do have some blood deficiency.

In Chinese medicine, we measure the health of your blood quality by evaluating ALL of these symptoms.

If you’re having a really healthy period, if you’re not having any signs like dry skin, dry hair, dry eyes, difficulty sleeping, focusing, poor memory, then most likely your blood deficiency is not what is making it challenging for you to get and stay pregnant.

However, if you are having any of these signs, then it’s a good indication that you do need to really nourish your blood to increase your uterine lining and your chances of conceiving.

Are you ready to find more support in doing this?

This topic is one of the focuses of my online program Fertility Activation Method

Not only do you learn these different patterns, what might be your pattern, such as blood deficiency, but you also gain the tools needed to help you actually address these issues so that you can begin having a healthier period with healthier blood flow to your uterine lining — making sure it’s thick enough that you can have successful implantation and healthy pregnancy.

In the Fertility Activation Method, I place a huge focus on building blood throughout your entire cycle so that your uterus is nourished because this is such an important part of fertility. Healthy digestion and having really good sleep will also contribute to being able to build up healthy blood cells as well.
