6 Reasons Why Quarantine Is The Best Time To Try To Conceive Naturally

With all the fear around getting Covid-19 and the stress of the lockdown, you may be wondering if now is an ideal time to try to get pregnant. Maybe you’re feeling frustrated if you had to postpone fertility treatment because your clinic closed and/ or you’re financially strained and can’t spend the money on it. Maybe you’ve been trying to conceive naturally for a while and you’re concerned that this pandemic will only make it harder. Maybe you’re worried about putting your dreams of having a baby on hold while your biological clock keeps on ticking. 

Regardless of how the pandemic has personally affected you, this could be the best time to try to conceive your baby naturally. 

Here’s why: 

1. What you do to improve your fertility, also boosts your immunity.

The best defense against Covid-19, more than avoiding crowds and wearing masks, is keeping your immune system strong. Luckily you can kill two birds with one stone when you take measures to prepare for a healthy conception.

We’re taught to think of the body compartmentally. If you have a foot problem, you go to a podiatrist. If you have a vision problem, you go to an ophthalmologist. It’s hard to imagine that your toe issue could be related to your vision, or that your unexpressed grief or bottled up anger could be contributing to both. 

By treating your body and mind as a whole, you support all aspects of your health for the wellbeing of anyone aspect. In other words, what you do to support your fertility will be of benefit to all areas of your health.

For instance, I teach women how to balance hormones, improve digestion, sleep better, increase circulation, and reduce stress to boost their fertility. These all support the immune system, as well. 

By the same token, it’s important now more than ever to keep your immunities up for the sake of your fertility. The energy it would take your body to recover from Covid-19 could significantly impact your body’s ability to conceive. 

And the last thing you want is to catch Covid when you’re pregnant.

2. Limited access to fertility treatments right now

Depending on the restrictions still in effect in your area, you may not have access to fertility treatment, which makes now the perfect time to focus on improving your health.

Even if you pursue fertility treatment when it’s available, the better prepared you are, the more likely your treatment will be successful. It takes about 90 days for both sperm and eggs to mature so use this time wisely to focus on being the healthiest version of yourself. 

You can try naturally in the meantime, and if you don’t get pregnant, you’ll be primed for successful fertility treatment. 

3. Best to avoid hospitals 

During a pandemic, the last place you want to be is a hospital where the chances of exposure are higher. 

Fertility treatments come with risks, including potentially fatal ones like hemorrhaging ovaries and allergic reactions to fertility drugs. By undergoing these procedures, there is a chance you could be hospitalized.

This one’s a no brainer. Save thousands of dollars while sparing yourself the stress of undergoing invasive and risky treatment? Um, yes please.
